Ampeleia – A grandiose wine for beautiful evenings.

The main part of the Ampeleia make Cabernet Franc with about 50% and Sangiovese with about 20%. Sangiovese, the typical Tuscan vine gives the Ampeleia its stability. Light foot is added to the Cabernet Franc, which was not common in the Maremma until now. Fruit, spiciness, elegance and body are the characteristics that the Cabernet brings to the Ampeleia. Five other, very Mediterranean grape varieties contribute with their characteristics to the character of the Ampeleia: Cannonau, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Alicante, Carignano.

Description

Our neighboring winery “Ampeleia” makes great and special organic wines. From the offer of the Slow Wine good, we have selected three wines for you, which you can enjoy at the normal retail price without extra charge at home in the Gurda Mare. If you like it, you can also order it at home. The 50-hectare vineyard was founded in 2002 by Elisabetta Foradori, Giovanni Podini and Thomas Widmann. Planted with seven Mediterranean grape varieties distributed at different altitudes, from 200 to 400 meters. This attempt to reconstruct the harmony of terroir and grape varieties experimentally has been absolutely successful. With less than 40 hl / ha, the yield was kept to a minimum.
