The Maremma is completely underrated as a holiday destination. Most Tuscany vacationers spend their holidays in Central Tuscany or in the northern coastal region between Carrara and San Vincenzo. Not only are the beaches even longer, wider and sometimes deserted even in summer. The many specialties are completely underrated. There is an own Maremma truffle, oysters at Orbetello and own saffron. The meat of the long-horned Maremma cattle is equal to that of the Chianina. The olive oil with its fruity aroma and fresh grassy fragrance is incomparable. In connection with the many vegetables of the region an unforgettable experience. The Maremma Pecorino with its variety in all levels of maturity is an absolute treat. Several top-class and sometimes even less known wine regions complete the gourmet experience of every gourmet. Fishing harbors where fish can be bought from the cutter in the evening and an affordable, honest and good gastronomy let Tuscany show a new, particularly authentic side. By the way, also milk and honey are of exceptionally high quality.

My parents had bought Guarda Mare more than 20 years ago. So I had the opportunity during my entire childhood there to spend my holidays. I enjoyed this very much. During the day we always went to the sea, as there was no pool at Guarda Mare. From time to time we went to Siena, Florence or Rome or had to assist our parents in haunted places, with alleys that did not fit cars, with wine, pasta, cheese or olive oil samples. Well, that’s right, the good ice has always compensated us. After a few years ago was renovated very expensive, I help with the rental of Guarda Mare.

We operate the Il Corso, a typical Maremma trattoria in Roccatederighi. Our homemade pasta, with fresh local vegetables or wild boar ragout, will make your stay in Guarda Mare as well as our main courses such as If you do not want to use the well-equipped kitchen of the Guarda Mare, stuff rabbits stuffed with vegetables.

The service of cleaning, beds, linen and pool at Guarda Mare is my job. We try to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The pool when you arrive is clean, the house is heated even when it is cool, or if you want a change of linen, I am at your disposal.

I know Laura and her brothers Moritz and Vincenz and their parents Eckhard and Andrea since I was a child myself. It’s great what happened to Guarda Mare. It is good that in Roccatederighi high-quality tourism projects find their skilful implementation. I would be happy to organize events such as cooking classes or sightseeing tours for guests of our own house and for Guarda Mare.

I pay particular attention to cleanliness in the kitchen, the oven, the stove and the grill. I am the good soul of the Guarda Mare service team. The good old values. To have fun here in Maremma or to grill the wonderful salcicce of butcher Carlo Salvestroni on the large gas grill, or to roll out a fresh pasta in the kitchen.

I have known Guarda Mare for more than 25 years. We have experienced and influenced all phases from Rustico to today’s little gem. We love the people here in Roccatederighi. My love for food and cuisine has significantly influenced the high quality and diverse features of the house. My credo: Give the best, including your guests.

The large ground of Guarda Mare requires some activities. I try to leave as many flowers as possible in our region. Wild fennel, broom are just two of a great biodiversity. But of course it should look well groomed. So we seek the compromise between conservation of diverse fauna and representative of the property Guarda Mare.

Guarda Mare was acquired more than 25 years before. We have used the house alone for most of the years. Our kids spent here every summer. Now they are grown up and we have decided a short time ago to beautify the dear old house with modern technology and pool and make it available for rental as a holiday home.
